ROCKING PATCH MINI RANCH

Our focus at Rocking Patch is on training miniature donkeys as well as breeding them.  As we are a small farm we limit our annual breeding.

A future herd sire, Rocking Patch Pink Floyd, was born here at the ranch  August 3, 2008.  His sire is Stoney Acres Prairies' Inferno, and his dam is Perfection's Pink Ice.  Floyd was 20" at birth, quite stocky, and should stay small.

Two of our first jennets that we purchased, WV Jasmine Jewel, and WV Springbean, are both due to foal May 2009.  The sire is Rocking Patch Pink Cadillac.  We will provide pictures of the foals as soon as the exciting day arrives.

                                        BABIES FINALLY ARRIVE!

WV Jasmine Jewel and Rocking Patch Pink Cadillac had a little girl.  Born on May 11, 2009 but at 2:20 AM (way too early in the day!).  She is light grey and was 20 3/4".  She is "Rocking Patch Mercedes".

Not to be outdone, Rocking Patch Pink Cadillac and WV Springbean had a boy!!!  Born May 11, 2009 at 9:30 PM, 21" at birth and is a healthy pink sorrel.  His left ear got stuck flat during his growth, but has curled back.  His name is "Rocking Patch Coupe de Ville" or "Coup" for short. 

"Coupe" has been sold (see Donkeys for Sale/Sold page), but Mercedes is still available.

ROCKING PATCH BENTLEY:

Sire: Stoney Acres Prairies' Inferno

Dam: Perfection's Pink Ice

April 9, 2010, 9:10 PM, the first of this year's foals arrived.  22 1/2" in height, and light brown (although he looks darker in his first pics).  He is Pink Floyd's full brother.  We are going to call him "Rocking Patch Bentley".  Nice and square, with good back line, he will probably be gelded. He should become an excellent performance/driving donkey.

ROCKING PATCH CADILLAC CRUISER:

Sire: Rocking Patch Pink Cadillac

Dam: Midge of Rocking Patch

Another little boy arrived at 3:45PM on April 14, 2010.  21" at birth, he is light brown like his brother, but looks like he might end out as a pink grey.  He does have black tips on his ears.  We are fortunate to have another correct donkey (we can thank P C for that).  By his looks, he will probably be a nice match to Bentley as a driving pair when the time comes.

                                 Another Boy Joins the Fold!

ROCKING PATCH CIMARRON:

Sire: Rocking Patch Pink Cadillac

Dam: Stoney Acres Tasha

Just after midnight May 5, 2010, Cimarron was born.  He was 21 3/4" at birth.  His colouring is either Dark Pink or Medium Red (time will tell).  The birth went well, although it took almost 4 hours till he was able to start nursing.  Tasha's teats had swelled up to be quite large and Cimarron couldn't get his little mouth attached properly.  We had to assist to start by milking Tasha a little to insure he got the milk as soon as possible.

After some much needed sleep by all concerned, we'll be able to see what kind of character he will turn out to be.
